| Cana
Island
It
is located in the district of Tonosi, Los Santos
Province, and it features a 13 km-long beach. It is the most important
place where marine turtles, , mainly the Lapidochelis Olivacea species,
build their nests on Panama’s Pacific Ocean.
This haven also protects an important ecosystem of mangrove, which
is the habitat of various marine species. Near this haven, you can
find a charming fishing town, which along with personnel from the
National Environment Authority (ANAM), protect
and handle thousands of marine turtles that arrive in their coasts
every year.
